We are seeking a Nurse Case Manager who is passionate about healthcare navigation and eager to educate employers, insurers, and partners about innovative group benefit solutions. As part of our team, you will advocate for changes that support individuals in their health journeys.
Position Summary
We are actively seeking a "Nurse Case Manager" (NCM)/ Case Manager (CM) to manage the duration of a Short-Term Disability (STD) case, Accommodation cases, and Complex Case to achieve concrete, productive outcomes for the employee and the employer by obtaining a clear diagnosis, ensuring an optimal treatment plan and a successful return to work. The Nurse Case Manager/CM reviews medical facts to determine if the treatment is medically supported as per client policy and is the most cost-effective while maintaining the quality of care.
Schedule:
- 8-hour shift
- Monday to Friday
What you'll be doing:
- Ensure treatment plans are appropriate for employees’ medical condition;
- Operate as the liaison between the employee and the employer during an employee’s absence from work;
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate case notes, cost estimates, and other relevant data within OHGMed;
- Review medical documentation to determine if the treatment is medically approved, as per client policy, and is the most cost-effective while maintaining the quality of care;
- Assess the length of duration, as per published standards, and Oncidium’s Medical Director;
- Recommend additional assessments, if required, (i.e. Ergonomic Assessment, Independent Medical Evaluation, Fitness to Work Evaluation, etc.);
- Performs all work in a PIPEDA and HIPAA compliant manner**.**
What you need to be successful:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) from Ontario
- Minimum of five (5) years leadership experience in a disability environment
- Proven disability management experience, with a strong focus on psychiatric claims
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment
- Act with a high degree of professionalism at all levels
- Fluency in both French and English
- Workers’ Compensation (WSIB and WCB) experience is an asset
- Excellent computer, verbal and written skills

- Evidence of decision making, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- A dedicated team player, who demonstrates initiative and exercises sound judgment
- Proven experience in preparing and facilitating graduated return to work programs
- Knowledge of WSIA and other relevant provincial workers' compensation legislation and policies
