About the role
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Activation Assistant is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating activities for 72 residents in collaboration with the Activation and Programs Manager. The Activation Assistant performs all activities in collaboration with Unity Health Toronto's mission and values. Activities will be provided seven days a week, which will include days, evenings and weekend programs.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- College Diploma in Activation or related field, with courses and placements relating to older adults;
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Activation in health care, preferably in Long Term Care;
- Good, well-developed activity skills in all areas, including restorative care, music, crafts, exercise, leading reminiscing and discussion groups, games and horticulture;
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication and writing skills;
- The ability to work both independently and interdependently as a team member, demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm and flexibility;
- Ability for flexible schedule in response to resident/program needs and Ministry of Health and Long Term Care standards and expectations;
- Competent with computers- MS office.
- Very good attendance record;
- Good performance record.
