About the role
The Director of Finance, Controlling plays a crucial role in managing the financial reporting, accounting operations and internal controls while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. They are accountable for providing strong accounting leadership and are passionate about building key financial processes that support long term success. Reporting to the CFO, the key deliverables include accuracy and timeliness of financial statements, drive process improvements, partner with the operations and commercial teams to support successful implementation of strategic projects.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.
- Collaborates with external auditors and oversees quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Oversees AR, AP, and all accounting functions.
- Develops and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Provides strategic financial analysis and reports to the CFO and other stakeholders.
- Oversee all corporate and retail tax filings.
- Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships.
- Leads cross functional initiatives to automate reconciliations and reporting packs.
- Leads accounting staff on best practices and new technology implementations.
- Establish KPIs, conduct performance reviews and foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
- Lead, mentor, and develops the finance team to support professional growth.
- Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting to support financial planning.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and accounting standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3-5 years in a senior financial management role.
- Strong understanding of IFRS, GAAP, and SEC reporting requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Strategic thinking with strong business partnering skills
- Collaborative mindset and proven change-management skills.
- Proven ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and integrity.
- Preference to experience in healthcare or long-term care industry.
