Hillside Pines - Director of Care
Hillside Pines is an Eden Registered Home where the Director of Care plays a role in supporting the Philosophy of elder-directed care. The Director of Care works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary care partner team including elders and their families to support the wellbeing and quality of life goals for elders. Hillside Pines in a 50-elder home located in the heart of Bridgewater on Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore. The Director of Care provides on-site leadership and is responsible for overall operations of the home in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Leading and managing the overall operation of the nursing team.
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of nursing services provided to Elders
- Promoting a positive work environment fostering connections with our Elders, management team, care partners, families, volunteers, community partners and external stakeholders
- Promote care partner engagement, retention, and professional development
- Actively promote the Eden Alternative approaches of care provision with a focus on delivering exceptional, Elder- directed, and evidence-informed care
- Preparing, monitoring, and controlling a departmental budget
- Manage all aspects of organizing, supervising, and evaluating care partners performance
- Participating in committees according to terms of reference and areas of responsibility
- Leading through changes/improvements in technology and elder-directed care practices
- Any other duties as assigned by the CEO
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree
- Current registration with NSCN
- A minimum of 5 years experience as an RN in the long-term care sector
- 3-5 years experience working in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a healthcare setting considered an asset
- Demonstrated leadership skills that promotes collaboration, innovation, and versatility
- Eden Alternative philosophy of care knowledge or experience considered an asset
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Comfort with technology and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- A clear and current Vulnerable Sector check applicable to Nova Scotia
- Eligible to work in Canada
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent. On-site.
Schedule: Monday through Friday. Rotating on-call.
