WEB CONTENT EDITOR (STUDENT POSITION)

The Faculty of Law’s communications team is looking for a part-time Web Content Editor for the 2025-2026 academic year. We seek to hire a tech-savvy student to help us maintain and improve www.mcgill.ca/law, as well as secondary websites associated with the Faculty (research centres, chairs, etc.) Working a few hours a week on your own schedule, you would post news and events on our websites, oversee student-run blogs, and help improve existing content.

JOB PROFILE SUMMARY:

The Web Content Editor will play a key role in keeping the Faculty’s websites updated. This position involves editing and publishing website content such as news, events, blog posts, and page content. They will be able to suggest and implement website improvements that align with the Faculty's communication strategies and goals. The ideal candidate will be a strongly organized, detail-oriented, bilingual student with prior website editing experience.

TASKS:

  • Website Maintenance: Regularly update the website to keep information current and relevant
  • Promote Faculty news and events
  • Coordinate seasonal student blogs (international human rights internships, CDO ‘Day in the Life’ program, Business Law Meter Blog)
  • Editing and Proofreading: Ensure all web content is accurate, well-written, and free of errors
  • Special projects, time-permitting: work with professors and administrative staff on building/improving websites; make and implement suggestions on improving mcgill.ca/law

Qualifications Required:

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Familiarity with web content management systems (previous experience with WordPress, DRUPAL an asset)
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS
  • Bilingualism (spoken and written)
  • Self-managed, excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • D.E.C. or equivalent
  • Registered full-time student at McGill University
  • Interest in digital media and communications

ÉDITEUR·TRICE DE CONTENU WEB (POSTE ÉTUDIANT)

L’équipe des communications de la Faculté de droit est à la recherche d’un·e éditeur·trice de contenu Web à temps partiel pour l’année universitaire 2025-2026. Nous souhaitons embaucher un·e étudiant·e à l’aise avec les technologies pour nous aider à maintenir et améliorer le site www.mcgill.ca/law, ainsi que les sites secondaires associés à la Faculté (centres de recherche, chaires, etc.). En travaillant quelques heures par semaine selon votre horaire, vous publierez des nouvelles et des événements sur nos sites, superviserez des blogues étudiants et contribuerez à l’amélioration du contenu existant.

SOMMAIRE DU POSTE :
L’éditeur·trice de contenu Web jouera un rôle clé dans la mise à jour des sites Web de la Faculté. Ce poste implique la révision et la publication de contenu tel que des nouvelles, des événements, des articles de blogue et des pages Web. La personne retenue pourra proposer et mettre en œuvre des améliorations qui s’alignent avec les stratégies et objectifs de communication de la Faculté. Le ou la candidat·e idéal·e est un·e étudiant·e bilingue, bien organisé·e, minutieux·se, avec une expérience préalable en gestion de contenu Web.

TÂCHES :

  • Entretien du site Web : Mettre régulièrement à jour le site pour assurer la pertinence et l’exactitude de l’information.
  • Promotion : Mettre en valeur les nouvelles et événements de la Faculté.
  • Coordination de blogues étudiants saisonniers : Stages internationaux en droits humains, programme « Juriste d’un jour » du CDP, blogue Business Law Meter.
  • Révision et correction : S’assurer que tout le contenu Web est exact, bien rédigé et sans fautes.
  • Projets spéciaux (si le temps le permet) : Collaborer avec des professeur·e·s et le personnel administratif pour créer ou améliorer des sites Web; proposer et mettre en œuvre des améliorations au site mcgill.ca/law.

Qualifications requises (compétences, aptitudes, formation, langues) :

  • Excellentes compétences en rédaction, révision et correction.
  • Connaissance des systèmes de gestion de contenu Web (expérience avec WordPress ou DRUPAL est un atout).
  • Connaissance de base en HTML et CSS.
  • Bilinguisme (français et anglais, parlé et écrit).
