Utility Fleet Mechanic - Surrey Garage

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Surrey Garage

Employment type: Permanent Region: Lower Mainland

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Field

Hourly Rate: $ 48.01

What you'll do

  • As per IBEW Collective Agreement.
  • A Utility Fleet Mechanic repairs, maintains, modifies and commissions vehicles and equipment, including aerial devices.
  • This includes using telematics to proactively manage maintenance.

What you bring

  • As per IBEW Collective Agreement.
  • Must be a red seal certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Automotive, and/or Truck and Transport Mechanic.
  • Utility Fleet Mechanics will be provided Utility Fleet Mechanic (UFM) training and become UFM certified.
  • A Utility Fleet Mechanic may be assisted by a Driver/Helper.
  • A valid B.C. driver's license Class 3 with air brake endorsement or ability to obtain same.
  • Certification as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector is preferred.

What else you should know

This position is affiliated with the international Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union (IBEW local 258) www.ibew258.bc.
ca

  • This position will service vehicles at the Surrey Vehicle Garage and various locations, as required.

  • This position is posted internally and externally, concurrently.

  • Preference will be given to red seal certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, and/or Truck and Transport Mechanic,

and New Vehicle Outfitting.

  • All Utility Fleet Mechanic are expected to obtain their Commercial Vehicle Inspector certification and Utility Fleet Mechanic

certified.

  • You may be required to rotate between shifts in accordance with Article 62.3A of the IBEW Collective Agreement. Shifts

are Day Shift: 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM; Afternoon Shift 4:00 PM to 12:00.

  • A written exam and a hands on test covering technical, safety, and administrative skills may form part of the selection

process.

required as a pre-condition to employment.
