Essential Qualifications:

• Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia;

• Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition;

• Excellent classroom and student management skills;

• Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning;

• Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies

• Red Seal in Welding or other metal fabrication trade;

• Teacher must have basic training to teach courses related to the O-2 program;

• CPR/First Aid Instructor Training;

• In depth knowledge of industrial workplace safety;

• WHMIS;

• OHS;

• Life Work Portfolio Development.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Teacher should have connections with the surrounding community and be willing to work with local establishments in order to set up work placements. Teacher will also have to liaise with post secondary institutions that will be involved with student visitations and applications.

Your application must include at least three (3) work-related references, one must be your most recent supervisor. All candidates short listed for interviews will have references checked prior to being interviewed.
