Position Overview As a member of the Health and Safety Team, the Health and Safety Administrative Specialist will report to the Superintendent of Health and Safety and work a 4X3 fly-in/fly-out schedule, Monday to Thursday (4 days in/ 3 days out) at the Ekati Diamond Mine. The Health and Safety Administrative Specialist will be responsible for supporting the health and safety advisors and ERT coordinators with administrative Health and Safety duties at the Ekati Diamond Mine. This role is a 12-month term with possiblity of extension.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Complete all reporting requirements as directed by management
  • Responsible for SAP entries
  • Act as resource on the Occupational Health and Safety Committee (OHSC);
  • Maintain statistics regarding health and safety incidents and accidents. Analyzes statistics to determine trends as well as advise on proactive solutions
  • Controlled Document Management
  • Tracking and Reporting of Sitewide Monthly Safety Meetings
  • Help support budgets and consultant programs;
  • Maintain policies, programs, and procedures for a safe work environment;
  • Support emergency response team and responsive in the event of an emergency.
  • Immediate Recognition Program Management
  • Assist with the accident investigation program ensuring accurate information, reporting and identifying root causes
  • Other duties as required

Education/Experience

  • 5+ years’ mining or industry administrative experience, preferably in a remote setting;
  • Demonstrated high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills;
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (MS Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Physically able to climb stairs, walk long distances, and lift items up to 40 lbs. at periodic intervals.
