Driving Compliance and Sustainability Excellence

As the Supervisor, Compliance and Sustainability, you’ll lead a dedicated team and oversee key programs that ensure our products and packaging meet environmental regulations across Canada. Led by the Manager, Compliance & Sustainability, you’ll play a hands-on role in managing EPR reporting, and environmental handling fees – with a strong focus on aligning with Ontario’s evolving regulatory landscape. Ready to make an impact in a new role? Here’s how:

  • Lead and implement Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs and processes, that reduce costs, waste, improve efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, etc.
  • Own and maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database, chemical formulas database, packaging and printed paper database, ensuring product packaging meets labeling standards (bilingual, CCCR, etc.).
  • Ownership for the EPR databases; includes collecting and maintaining product data for government reporting and other relevant regulations as needed. Ensure compliance is achieved to all regional, Provincial and Federal policies, regulations and laws.
  • Assist with gathering Environmental Handling Fee (EHF) information for audits to ensure compliance with EPR programs across Canada.
  • Oversee Home Hardware’s Product & Packaging Sustainability Program, driving down costs and identifying pollution prevention opportunities.
  • Continual improvement to utilize best practice methodologies for reporting and data collection.
  • Oversee and prepare internal and external communications including reports, data summaries, and presentations.
  • Work with the Master Data team to ensure accurate product certifications and labeling compliance Energy Star, WaterSense, CSA, UL, FSC, etc.).
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Compliance and Sustainability Analysts.

We’re looking for:

  • Experience working with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs, ideally with knowledge of provincial-specific legislation.

  • Strong understanding of Canadian environmental compliance and regulatory frameworks.

  • Ability to act as a subject matter expert in EPR and product compliance, providing expert advice and resources to leadership, internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g. Government Authorities and Associations).

  • A focus on driving process efficiencies and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to interpret and apply complex legislation and communicate it clearly across all levels of the organization.

  • Proven leadership skills – you know how to coach, guide, and elevate a team.

  • Ability to be a solutions-oriented decision maker.

  • Experience using PowerBI or Excel, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience within retail industry is an asset.

  • The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, as part of our hybrid working model.
