Responsibilities

Provides procurement services and support through strategic procurement activities to ensure that the necessary goods, services, and construction are available for South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority (SCBCTA) departments and/or subsidiary entities (as required) to achieve business requirements and overall corporate and departmental objectives. Evaluates vendor/supplier responses and conducts complex negotiations to finalize contracts, including renewals and major contract changes. Maintains external communications with suppliers and vendors (as required) including facilitating vendor performance management and internal communications to support and foster supplier and vendor relationships. Assists Senior Procurement Officers when required. Provides assistance and guidance to Junior Procurement Officers and Strategic Sourcing Assistants, when requested.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Requires Grade 12 graduation plus 2 years post-secondary education in Business Administration or Procurement/Supply Chain/Logistics, and courses in standard MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Accounting, Finance, Law, Contracts, Communication, Economics, Marketing and Organizational Behaviour, or equivalent coursework.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires two (2) years prior experience in an established business procurement and contracting environment (preferably public sector) covering all phases of the procurement process and contracting including collaborating with stakeholders, preparing procurement strategies, issuing, and managing tenders & solicitations, drafting contract documents, obtaining quotations/proposals, negotiations, supplier performance management and resolving problems with suppliers. Up to six (6) months is required in the position to become familiar with SCBCTA policies and procedures and vendor performance to be able to advise departments and vendors regarding vendor selection, standards, and documentation requirements.

Other Information

Contract tendering experience is desired.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Work Schedule

37.5 hours per week.

This is a full-time temporary position with an estimated end date of October 28, 2026.

Hybrid

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.

Rate of Pay

Salary $7,556.19 - $9,062.36 per month (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).

The Total Compensation Package includes Extended Health, Transit Pass and enrollment in the Public Service Pension Plan upon eligibility.
