Yard Assistant
Division: Construction Supply
Job Summary
The Yard Assistant is responsible for supporting daily yard operations by assisting customers, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, operating equipment, and delivering excellent customer service in an outdoor setting.
Primary Responsibilities
- · Greet and assist contractors and residential customers with material selection and loading.
- · Load aggregates and other materials using loaders and tow motors.
- · Maintain accurate inventory levels and assist with annual physical inventory counts.
- · Organize and store stock products in designated yard and storage areas.
- · Perform yard upkeep including landscaping, mowing, weed trimming, and trash removal.
- · Ensure the yard is clean, safe, and visually appealing in accordance with company standards.
- · Remove snow from the yard and surrounding areas as needed.
- · Participate in company-sponsored training and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- · High school diploma or equivalent required.
- · Experience working with customers in a fast-paced environment.
- · Ability to operate yard equipment such as loaders and forklifts.
Physical Requirements
- · Ability to lift up to 100 lbs regularly.
- · Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- · Capable of standing, walking, bending, and performing physical tasks for extended periods.
- · Manual dexterity and coordination to operate machinery and tools safely.
Work Environment
- · Outdoor yard and storage areas with exposure to weather elements.
- · Fast-paced, physically active environment.
- · Interaction with customers, drivers, and team members throughout the day.
- · Use of heavy equipment and machinery with appropriate safety protocols.
