    • Some benefits have eligibility requirements of surpassing three (3) months and securing a regular position of 20hrs/week or more. The benefits and criteria may change from time to time at the discretion of Strive.

Individuals in the home have developmental disabilities, physical disabilities and some minor mental health or medical issues. Many have physical limitations and need full care support. The right candidate shall possess strong management experience with good written and verbal communication skills, a valid BCDL class 4 or 5 and in good standing with CLPNBC.

This is a part-time permanent position. Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 3:30pm with some flexibility (Off and On on-call for weekends and stat holidays)

The Ideal Applicant Shall Possess:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of two group homes
  • Ensuring the health and safety and a high standard of care for clients
  • Scheduling, supervising, and evaluating staff
  • Working with health care professionals to identify client needs
  • Develop individual plans, protocols, and schedules
  • Rotating on-call duties

Job Qualifications Include:

  • Registered LPN preferred
  • Minimum of one year of management experience in group home, residential or health care setting
  • Awareness of and respect for the human rights of persons-in-care
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good organization and time management abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound judgment and decisiveness in the event of emergency
  • Familiarity with computers and proficiency in Microsoft platform

Strive Living Society (formally Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society) is a registered nonprofit organization that provides community and residential services for children, youth, adults, and seniors with diverse abilities.

Founded in 1988 by a Psychologist and Social Worker with the shared belief that even the most challenging individuals could live successfully in the community, Strive began as a modest group home for three young adults with developmental disabilities from the former Woodlands Hospital.

Today, Strive serves not only adults with developmental disabilities, but also children, youth, and seniors with physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complications, mental health issues, autism spectrum disorders, behavioural obstacles, and/or dementia. In addition to residential resources, Strive operates drop-in centres, community-based programs, and home-based services.

Strive’s service area has expanded from North Vancouver to Greater Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, as well as the Sunshine Coast. Most of our programs are fully CARF accredited.

This grass roots agency now serves over 600 individuals, with headquarters based in beautiful Burnaby, BC.
