Job Title - Standardized Actor/Actress for Medical Training
Job Description
Play the role of a ‘sick patient’ with a pre-determined diagnosis and medical history or ‘healthcare professional’ for the purpose of interacting with medical students and graduates to hone their clinical skills and bedside manners.
The Canadian & American medical licensing examinations require all medical graduates to clear certain practical OSCE (Objective-Structured-Clinical-Examinations)-style examinations.
Standardized Actor’s primary responsibility is to accurately portray one or more Standardized Patient cases and evaluate student performance in history taking, physical exam, spoken English proficiency, and communication skills.
Case facts must be accurately memorized, retained, and portrayed. Also, must be able to retain student execution during interactions to provide accurate assessment and supportive feedback after the encounter.
What we’re asking from you:
· Punctuality
· Be true to the role in both wardrobe, personality, character & consistency
· Be genuine & be patient with the student doctors
· Have a sense of humor
· You will also be asked to verbally critique the student on how you felt they performed with you. Specifics will be provided during training.
· Additionally, we will be taking photos/videos of you to use for promotional material, on our website, social media pages, and any print material.
What we offer:
· You'll be a part of our roster of SPs - it's a freelance, casual contract role
· Roles will be both In-Person and via ZOOM conferencing
· Gigs are throughout the year; requirements are between 3-8 Hours
o Guaranteed at least 3 hours of work
· Compensation
o $30/hr for IN-PERSON Interactions
