About the role

Job Summary

Come work as a Family Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

Seize the opportunity to be part of meaningful transformation in patients’ lives! We are looking for passionate family physicians with interest in addiction medicine to work in support recovery. VCH Specialized Substance Use Services provides medical support to multiple Support Recovery/Bed-Based Substance Use Treatment Programs in Vancouver. Physicians in our program provide primary care for patients in recovery while they are admitted to the treatment centre for 28-90 days.

Applicants need to have completed the Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program (POATSP) course and preceptorship and be able to prescribe opioid agonist therapy (OAT). Most patients are on stable doses so this is a great opportunity to gain experience providing OAT care. Providers should have interest in addiction medicine, although prior experience is not required. Lots of mentorship and support available.

Opportunity to supervise Enhanced Skills in Addiction Medicine Family Medicine residents.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC)- Mandatory
  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP)- Mandatory
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)- Mandatory
