Job Description

Position Summary:

The logistics department is responsible to report profit and loss to Head Office for all inland moves within Canada and cross border. To properly forecast upcoming volume and create visibility on potential issues and communicate accordingly internally on best action plan for: MSC Canada’s primary asset – their containers – is effectively tracked and allocated to meet customer demands across Canada. The Specialist, Logistics – Network Planning is a the heart of communications with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective container management, maintenance, reporting and forecasting.

Level of Responsibility

Enhanced task complexity and accountability to customer. Enhanced autonomy in role, contributing significantly to team/organizational projects. Accountable for accuracy and efficiency in assigned tasks. Starting to mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

Key Tasks

  • Oversight on the inventory management and evacuation process for the defined region.
  • Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to define evacuation plans and execute.
  • Development and maintenance of analytics to support planning requirements.
  • Responsible to manage inventory levels per defined asset turn times and vendor SLA’s
  • Accountable to ensure export equipment availability meets the forecast.
  • Relationship development with key partners.
  • Accountable to Geneva Logistics on network performance and initiatives.
  • Development of a consistent & professional reporting suite
  • Ensure continuous evolution on innovation within the Network space

Skills / Experience:

  • Experience in Logistics (Intermodal - Asset/Inventory Management) 3 years’ experience.
  • Experience that involves Logistics or Supply chain. Min experience of 3 year in the industry.
  • Experience in managing containerized cargo movement, min experience of 2 years.
  • Ability to work under pressure, creativity and proactiveness.
  • Efficient in performing tasks and absorbing knowledge and processes quickly.
  • Optimization and analytical skills

  • Proactive nature
  • Creative solutions, outside of the box thinker
  • Computer Skills: Excel (advanced), Power BI and Access (an asset)
  • Strong communication skills;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: Able to communicate in a concise professional manner, using correct grammar and syntax, using positive language consistently to convey negative messages; demonstrates empathy for the customer in their communication.

  • Organizational Skills: Can prioritize large workflow, and to manage their time effectively, ensuring a seamless and frictionless process, approaching problems logically and with demonstrated good judgment.

  • Follow-through: Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and promptness as well as consistency in following up in unresolved client issues to ensure completion, advocating for each customer both internally and externally; keeping a friendly connection with the customer to assure them they are a priority.

  • Attention to detail while working quickly and under pressure: Is able to maintain the both the quality and the productivity standards, ensuring accuracy, correctness and speed are maintained, when deadlines are not flexible.

  • Computer Skills: Excel (advanced), Power BI and Access (an asset)

  • Creative solutions: Outside of the box thinker

  • Proven ability to work under pressure, creativity and proactiveness.
