About the Role:
Working as part of the Environmental Services team, the Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring the timely and hygienic handling of all personal and common-use laundry. The role requires attention to detail, a sense of pride in delivering high-quality service, and a commitment to resident-centered care. Availability for varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:Resident Laundry Services:
- Sort, pre-soak, wash, dry, fold, and return resident clothing in a timely and respectful manner
- Iron and label clothing as needed; set aside dry-clean items and notify appropriate contacts
- Maintain care and privacy when handling personal belongings
Residence/Common Laundry:
- Process all in-house laundry including dining linens and other textiles
- Return items promptly to appropriate departments
- Monitor linen quality, remove worn items, and maintain inventory
- Perform routine upkeep and equipment cleaning in laundry areas
Communication & Teamwork:
- Collaborate with co-workers and other departments for smooth service delivery
- Maintain a dependable attendance record and support a positive team environment
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of supply needs and equipment concerns
Customer Service:
- Engage with residents and families in a courteous, respectful, and friendly manner
- Respond to inquiries or concerns promptly while preserving dignity and independence
- Report resident concerns or changes to appropriate staff immediately
Training & Safety:
- Attend and participate in all required training, in-services, and departmental meetings
- Follow IPAC and occupational health and safety standards
- Comply with all infection control protocols and safe handling practices
Qualifications:
- High school diploma preferred
- Previous experience in laundry or housekeeping in healthcare/hospitality an asset
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to speak, read, and write in English with attention to detail
- Physically able to perform repetitive tasks and lift moderate loads
- Reliable, professional in appearance, and adherent to uniform policies
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and varied shifts as required
- Compliant with AON’s immunization and infection control policies
