About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist the Purchasing Manager to provide a service that exceeds the expectations of our internal and external customers.
- Provide superior service to sales time by quoting and buying customer specific material in a timely, accurate fashion.
- Assist in spot buys of prime materials and back up to CF Buyer and Purchasing Manager as required.
- Prioritize orders and coordinate with Sales orders of importance by continually updating incoming inventory position.
- Develop and maintain relationships with current and new suppliers.
- Communicate any critical supplier information to senior management.
- Modify purchase orders for cost details, specifications, lengths etc.
- Expediate orders and maintain incoming containers by updating deliveries, working closely with Mills.
- Provide information to the administration group as necessary regarding Medius charge corrections.
- Coordinate and schedule incoming deliveries for supported products using receiving calendar.
Education and Certifications
- Completion of post-secondary education, University / College education in Business or Marketing preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications
- Experience in the steel service industry an asset
- Effective time management skills, ability to prioritize, able to work as a member of a team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with Excel, Word, and Outlook. D365 experience is a plus.
- Previous interaction and experience working with customers.
- Drive, determination and ability to work both independently with little direction and as part of a team.
