About the role
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the cleanliness of the common areas of the hotel while interacting with guests.
Ensures that the cleanliness level of the hotel is at the standard deemed acceptable by our guests and required by the hotel. Maintains room security for the protection of guests and their property.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures the cleanliness level of the hotel is at the standard deemed acceptable by our guests and required by the supervisor by:
- Cleaning common areas of the hotel, as assigned, including vacuuming the halls, moping public areas, dusting, emptying garbage bins, etc.
- Effectively using the hotel equipment, supplies and uniforms issued by the supervisor.
- Bringing down the soiled linen to the laundry room.
- Removes garbage to the proper storage areas; recycles materials when possible, breaking down the cardboard; and assists with the removal of garbage according to our contractor’s schedule.
- Working with minimal supervision.
- Brings special guest requests to room i.e., Fridge, microwave, cots, cribs, towels etc.
- Assists with general grounds work in summer and snow removal in winter, as needed, posts information in Front Desk book
- Works with the maintenance workers to ensure that all areas of the hotel are mechanically functioning up to standard
- Assists in maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment by addressing minor facility-related needs.
- Performs basic facility support functions to ensure operational continuity and workplace efficiency.
- Provides hands-on assistance with non-specialized building operations and general infrastructure care.
- Executes day-to-day support activities related to the general condition and usability of the premises.
- Contributes to the smooth operation of the facility by managing low-complexity repair and upkeep tasks.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES:
Work experience in a customer service environment; energetic and positive disposition.
Demonstrated effective oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Effective problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Possesses a working knowledge of general building support practices and tools.
Resourceful and adaptable in managing day-to-day operational needs of the physical environment.
Maintain a high level of professional appearance; behave in a professional and ethical manner.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety protocols, including emergency response procedures, hazard prevention strategies, and safe practices for physically demanding tasks. Familiarity with environmental controls such as noise and temperature management, as well as proper handling of cleaning agents and potential bio-hazards. Understanding of WHMIS standards and safe chemical usage is essential.
Job Type: Full-time, Part-time
Salary: $18 per hour
Schedule:
- 8-hour shifts
- Candidate would have to be flexible i.e., available 7 days per week.
