About the role
Overview
Our 50 bed nursing home has a relaxed country atmosphere and a strong care team, located in Riverside-Albert, 45 minute drive south of Moncton.
The successful candidate will report to the Support Service Manager, showing their organization, direction, and prioritization of responsibilities, They will also demonstrate leadership and supervisory abilities in a professional manner under the Support Service Manager and/or Dietician.
High School graduation and additional education of up to two years or equivalent with a one year cook training program and blocks two and three completed.
Must have work experience in large quantity cooking.
Red Seal Certified or willingness to work to obtain it.
National Food Training Certificate as required by Public Health.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals according to menus and requisitions.
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are maintained throughout the cooking process.
- Communicates with residents, families, health care professionals, staff members, concerning dietary needs.
- Orders, receives, stocks, and maintains inventory.
- Prepares accordingly for special diets; low calorie, high fiber, allergies , and gluten free.
- Prioritizes food prep and cooking within established time frames.
- Baking, including desserts and breads.
- Monitors and documents food and refrigeration temperatures.
- Monitors and documents resident's diets and portions.
- Serves meals to staff and residents.
- Follows safe handling of food (dating and storing) as required by Public Health.
- Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment, grill, and ovens.
- Operates kitchen equipment, ovens, meat-slicer, dishwasher, and steam table.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $26.25 per hour
