Responsible to the Director, Flight Dispatch, the Weight and Balance Technical Manager has oversight of all software applications used within Weight and Balance, including the testing, training and development of internal documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Test script creation and writing for testing load control applications and implementation.
- Responsible for functional testing and user acceptance testing of load control applications.
- Developing training material for load control applications.
- Process development and documentation regarding the implementation load control applications.
- Liaise with other branches regarding testing and software bug status.
- Collaborate with Load Control Engineering to establish and implement AHM policies.
- Develop and collect data applicable to gain efficiencies within the Flight Dispatch division.
Qualifications
- University or college diploma in a relevant field (e.g. Aviation Management, Computer Science etc.), or equivalent years of experience.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a similar position.
- Ability to use SharePoint, MS Word, Excel, electronic mail efficiently.
- Proficient in all CSA W&B process/SOPs.
- Familiarity with all requirements of the operation: Dispatch, Flight Operations, Ramp, Baggage, STOC, ULD Control, Cargo & Weight and Balance.
- Individual must be currently qualified to perform W&B functions on all AC/RV.
- Proficient in all, Netline Ops, RES III, Aircom functionality.
- Proficient in S4A’s Load Control application including DES, LPV & SYS and a firm understanding of AHM560 policies and user management tables.
- A strong background in software application testing & deployment is required.
- A strong background in technical writing/development for test scripts, user manuals & training manuals is required.
- Requirement and ability to work irregular hours when necessary, including on call status.
- Individual should be self-starting and have the ability to work well with and/or without direction.
- Requirement for strong inter - personal/inter departmental communication & presentation skills.
- Website maintenance a definite asset.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.

- Level 4 – Knowledge of management analysis and principles, methodology and techniques
- Breadth (the scope) of skills and expertise required for the position
- Level 4 – Range of business/industry knowledge required for the position
- Level 4 – Must demonstrate significant achievements in specific quality areas and/or issues; proven superior interpersonal skills, writing skills and leadership capabilities.
- Scarcity: Level 5 Combination of operational knowledge in the required areas and expertise are difficult to find.
- Safety Responsibilities: As per the Air Canada Flight Operations Manual (FOM), the Air Canada Flight Dispatch Manual (FDM), the Air Canada Flight Dispatch Training Manual (FDTM), Aircraft Load Planning Manual (publication 160), the integrated safety management system, SOC/Dispatch work area recovery and evacuation process, and aircraft accidents and incidents (publication 400).
