Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Purchasing Manager to oversee our procurement processes and supply chain operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating prices, and managing vendor relationships to ensure that our organization operates efficiently and cost-effectively. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain dynamics, as well as the ability to fabricate and procure quality products that meet our production needs.
Responsibilities:
Procurement Planning:
- Assist in developing and implementing purchasing strategies that align with company objectives and ensure cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.
- Support and organize purchasing activities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce lead times.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand purchasing needs and develop comprehensive purchasing plans that meet demands and inventory goals.
Supplier Management:
- Identify, assess, and select reliable suppliers, negotiating favourable pricing and terms to achieve cost savings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery of products.
- Continuously evaluate vendor performance and exploring new sourcing opportunities to mitigate risks and capitalize on emerging market trends.
Logistics Coordination:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal supply and timely delivery to meet production schedules and sales forecasts.
- Coordinate with warehouse and sales teams to manage stock levels effectively and address any supply chain disruptions.
- Evaluate and improve logistics processes to reduce shipping costs and optimize transportation routes.
Team Management:
- Assist in assigning tasks and setting performance goals for team members to ensure alignment with departmental objectives.
- Provide guidance and support to team members on purchasing activities, including negotiations and vendor management, and act as a point of escalation for complex challenges.
Operational and Cross-Function Collaboration:
- Ensure all purchased products meet specifications and quality standards, addressing any discrepancies with suppliers.
- Support the accounting department on vendor receipt, invoice payments, and other purchasing-related processes.
- Conduct market research to stay informed of industry trends, material costs, and new technologies that can drive cost savings and operational improvements.
- Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and vendor performance to senior management.
Skills and Requirements:
- Proven experience developing and implementing purchasing strategies that align with business objectives and optimize cost-efficiency.
- Skilled in sourcing, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost savings..
- Ability to monitor stock levels, coordinate deliveries, and optimize logistics to support production and sales demands.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to guide team members, set performance goals, and collaborate across departments.
- Proficient in conducting market analysis to identify trends, evaluate vendor performance, and inform purchasing decisions..
- Understanding of procurement-related accounting processes and experience preparing reports on purchasing activities and cost performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles.
