Tax Advisor How does the role impact the organization? The Wyndham Group at Raymond James Ltd. is seeking a full-time Tax Advisor for one of our leading teams in our downtown Toronto office. This is a contract role for 18 months with the possibility to extend into a permanent full-time position. The Tax & Planning Specialist is responsible for working alongside the rest of the team in creating financial plans for clients, and assisting clients with personal and corporate tax strategies.
What will your role be responsible for?
- Work closely with lead advisors in all aspects of the financial planning process;
- Deal directly with clients, attend client meetings to gather information, to present tax and financial planning concepts, to deliver financial plans, and to give tax and financial planning advice;
- Prepare financial plans, and identify tax strategies and solutions to improve clients’ financial well-being;
- Monitor and update existing financial plans, tracking clients’ progress towards their goals;
- Prepare and review individual tax returns for clients and provide tax advice for client specific situations;
- Manage the organization of the financial planning team, creating processes and structure for delivering financial plans to clients;
- Liaise with team to ensure that the clients’ financial plans are reflected in the investment strategy;
- Provide high quality client service, including phone, email, written and in-person communication;
- Collaborate with clients’ other professional advisors, and internal and external network of specialists;
- Delivering client presentations on relevant tax and financial planning topics;
- Writing regular commentary that would be relatable to the advisor’s clientele;
- Maintain high standards of integrity, objectivity and expertise; and
- Build a profitable business and attract new clients in partnership with lead advisors.

What do we expect from you? To qualify for this opportunity, you possess:
- University undergraduate degree in Commerce or Accounting;
- A CPA designation is required with experience preparing and reviewing T1 personal tax returns;
- A CFP and/or TEP designation is an asset, otherwise the CFP designation will be required within the year.
