Job Description:
Patient Food Services is responsible for the preparation and distribution of approximately 355,000 meals and 80,000 nourishments to RVH patients annually, with the goal of providing exceptional food services with attention to variety, taste, nutrition, food safety and attractive presentation, to meet and exceed patient expectations. In addition to providing meals to RVH inpatients, we service Addictions located on Wellington Street, produce over 35,000 meals annually to community agencies (Meals on Wheels, Helping Hands) and support a robust in house catering operation and Meals to Go frozen meal line. Through the delivery of quality food and food services, our staff of dedicated, certified Food Handlers, supported by Team PFS Diet Clerks, Diet Technicians and Food Service Supervisors, touch the lives of hundreds of patients and their families at RVH every day.
As the Special Aide you will be responsible for the accurate orderly and efficient assembly, distribution, pickup and cleanup of patient / meal trays/nourishment. May be required to work on the patient beltline, dish room and /or pot room. Ensure that work areas, equipment and storage areas remain in an organized and sanitary condition in accordance with the Sanitation Code. Function within the Health & Safety guidelines providing a safe and supportive environment for all clients.
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:

High School Diploma Required

Food Safety Training Certificate Required
-
Food Service Worker / Dietary Aide Certificate Preferred

Six months experience in Food Service, preferable in a Health Care setting

Must be able to demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, and enthusiasm

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and responsibility of food safety

Must have effective organizational skills and demonstrate the ability to creatively solve problems
• Must be able to interact with others in a mature, cooperative and courteous manner while in department and while serving meals on nursing units • Must be able to calm dissatisfied customers and work closely with others in a team setting

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, located in Barrie, Ontario, provides safe, high-quality care for residents across a large geographical region including Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. The area is home to more than 450,000 residents, with half of RVH’s patients living outside the City of Barrie.
As the largest health centre in North Simcoe Muskoka, RVH provides highly specialized services, and technology not found anywhere else in the region. This includes the only interventional radiology suites for minimally invasive surgeries, vascular services, advanced stroke care, as well as dedicated trauma rooms in its large Emergency department. RVH is also home to the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Heart Program, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Child and Youth Program and the RVH Regional Renal Program meaning distance is no longer a factor for residents receiving lifesaving treatment.
