The Opportunity
As Director of Membership , you’ll be at the heart of our client’s mission to build a stronger, more connected business community. You’ll lead the charge in growing and deepening their membership network, championing the value of connection, advocacy, and opportunity.
This is more than a sales or engagement role, it’s a relationship-first position that blends strategy with heart, and execution with empathy. You’ll work alongside a passionate team, including the CEO and COO, to develop membership strategies that engage, retain, and grow. You'll also help shape programming, partnerships, and benefits that truly resonate with today’s business leaders.

Key Responsibilities
As the Director of Membership, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:
1. Membership Growth & Recruitment
- Design and implement outreach strategies to attract and onboard new members across the province.
- Collaborate with local chambers to identify opportunities for member acquisition and cross-promotion.
- Evaluate the value proposition of membership and work cross-functionally to evolve offerings that meet real business needs.
- Source and secure new membership benefits that enhance engagement and retention.
2. Engagement & Retention Strategy
- Lead the development and implementation of a membership engagement plan that fosters loyalty and long-term connection.
- Monitor, assess, and report on retention metrics and engagement outcomes on a quarterly basis.
- Proactively engage with members to understand their challenges and help them navigate opportunities.
3. Relationship & Community Building
- Act as a trusted liaison between members and our client, ensuring member voices are heard and elevated.
- Identify key decision-makers and build authentic, value-driven relationships that grow our client’s reach and relevance.
- Collaborate with internal teams to create member-focused experiences, programming, and communications.
4. Operational Oversight
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Membership & Administration Coordinator.
- Oversee membership systems, invoicing, dues collection, and reporting.
- Ensure membership is current and aligned with active members.
Qualifications
As the Director of Membership, you will possess the following qualities:
Hard Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in membership development, client relationship management, or business development.
- Familiarity with CRM tools, reporting dashboards, and member benefit programming.
- Proven experience with strategic planning, outreach, and stakeholder engagement.
Soft Skills & Strengths
- A natural connector and communicator, someone who thrives on building trust and forming lasting relationships.
- A strategic thinker with strong organizational instincts and follow-through.
- Confident and credible in meetings, presentations, and member interactions.
