Job Description:
We’re currently working with a well-established client in the construction and financial services sector in Canada, and we're excited to share a fantastic opportunity for an Accounting Clerk . This role is perfect for someone eager to grow professionally and gain deep insights into the financial workings of the construction industry. Our client is part of a leading international group with a rich history and their growth has largely been fueled by strategic acquisitions and globalization.
Key Responsibilities:
Transaction Processing:
- Enter and process various financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payments with precision.
- Ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded and compliant with company policies.
Reconciliations & Record Maintenance:
- Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
- Review and validate records for discrepancies, identifying and rectifying any errors or irregularities.
Financial Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for audit purposes.
- Assist in generating periodic reports, summaries, and schedules for the finance team.
Customer & Vendor Interaction:
- Manage interactions with both internal and external customers to resolve discrepancies or obtain additional information as required.
- Collaborate with vendors regarding payments and invoice clarifications.
Compliance & Administrative Support:
- Adhere to internal control standards and regulatory requirements related to financial operations.
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting department as needed.
Qualifications:
- Excel Expertise: Proficient in advanced Excel functions, including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and logical functions (IF, SUMIF)
- Transactional Accounting: Strong background in transactional accounting, equipped with robust investigative and problem-solving skills
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptionally meticulous when reviewing and authenticating financial transactions, consistently identifying errors and recommending corrective actions
- Audit Compliance: Deep understanding of internal audit requirements, ensuring compliance and mitigating audit risks
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to effectively manage relationships with both internal and external customers
