The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineering leader to head the Building Science Group in Vancouver. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving business development, leading structural design projects, and mentoring a growing team. Reporting to directly to the founders, this role combines technical leadership with strategic growth responsibilities, offering a platform to make a lasting impact on both the team and the broader business.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and secure new business opportunities in structural engineering for buildings.
- Develop and implement strategic growth initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and networking functions.
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and promotional materials to communicate service value.
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships with a focus on trust and collaboration.
- Lead structural design projects from concept through to delivery.
- Oversee all project phases including resource planning, technical oversight, and reporting.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to develop efficient, innovative solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Stay current with industry trends, codes, and best practices.
- Travel occasionally within Canada
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering design and leadership.
- Proven history in business development, client relationship management, and revenue growth.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- Professional registration in BC
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Effective project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
