ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently seeking full-time 2nd & 3rd Year Apprentice Welders to join our team at Neptune Coring, a division of Lafarge Canada Inc., based in Edmonton, AB. This role supports various trenchless construction projects within Edmonton and surrounding areas.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Perform welding-related tasks in the shop and on-site across various trenchless construction projects
- Operate safely in physically demanding environments including tunnels and confined spaces
- Maintain all equipment and tools used in accordance with safety guidelines
- Report unsafe work conditions or procedures immediately
- Support positive team dynamics and contribute to job site efficiency
- Adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental procedures and policies
- Promote and maintain a positive image with customers and the general public
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Enrolled in an accredited Welding Apprenticeship Program (2nd or 3rd Year)
Field of Study Preferred: Welding Technology
Required Work Experience: Experience in construction, welding, or shop environments is an asset
Required Training/Certifications: Registered apprentice (2nd or 3rd year) and a valid Driver’s License are mandatory. While CSTS, First Aid, Confined Space, and Fall Protection certifications are not required, candidates possessing these certifications will be given priority consideration.
Travel Requirements: Must be able to commute within Edmonton and surrounding areas
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically able to work in demanding environments and confined spaces
- Ability to work independently and follow directions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
