1 ‑ Full Time ‑ Mental Health Outpatient Coordinator
Mental Health Outpatient Clinic
The Coordinator, Mental Health Program, under the direction of the Director, Women & Children’s and Mental Health
Programs, is responsible for organizing, planning and coordinating staff across all of the mental health departments.
The Coordinator is also responsible and accountable for the management of the Mental Health Resource Team,
which includes clinical practice and development to promote quality outcomes.
The Coordinator, Mental Health Program, is responsible for the management of daily staffing across mental health
departments, including reallocation of staff. The Coordinator is responsible for managing single day absences and
short‑term leaves, authorizing shift changes and requests for time off. The Coordinator will work with each
department to determine acuity levels and address workload and staffing needs.
Working in collaboration with the program Managers, the Coordinator will maintain vacancy‑monitoring reports and
will participate in the recruitment of new staff. The Coordinator will be an expert in mental health and will provide
mentorship and coaching to staff on professionalism, policy adherence, and practice and competency maintenance.
The Coordinator will support staff safety by participating in safety huddles, quality huddles, incident debriefs and
promoting a culture of safety.
The Coordinator, Mental Health Program, will participate in program initiatives and will assist with policy and
procedure development.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
* Unencumbered registration holding a current license with the College of Nurses of Ontario
* Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
* Minimum 5 years clinical practice with demonstrated progressive clinical leadership, clinical experience in Mental
Health is required.
* Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing is preferred.
* Current NVCI certification
* Knowledge of practice standards and guiding principles to foster professional practice and accountability.
* Experience in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols, promoting the use of research and
evidence‑based practice to guide patient and family centered care is required.
Skills/Abilities:
* Demonstrated leadership abilities with high levels of critical and logical thinking, analysis and/or reasoning to
identify underlying principles, reasons or facts.
* Demonstrated high levels of initiative, resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability.
* Demonstrated commitment to patient and family‑centred care.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative practice model as a member of an
inter‑professional team.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the relevant acts, regulations, legislation and standards related to
Occupational Health and Safety in the hospital setting.
* Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point
and Outlook) and patient information systems.
* Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to manage workload and adapt quickly to a fast‑paced,
dynamic work environment.
* Demonstrated ability to assist clients with concern and empathy, respect their confidentiality and privacy,
communicate in a courteous and respectful manner, and consider intended audience.
* Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co‑workers and patients.
Salary Range: $56.884 to 66.571
