Class 4 (Unrestricted) Driver – Weekends and Casual Shifts (2 positions)

Job Description

UBC Camps Drivers are responsible for transporting UBC Camps participants (including children and youth) in our 24-passenger vehicle on weekend trips during July and August - Summer 2025. This position involves trips to and from the airport, as well as various activity locations across Greater Vancouver. Reporting to both the
Camps Manager and Camps Coordinator, Drivers are responsible for the pre-trip inspections, planning of routes, time management and execution of weekend trips throughout the summer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the safe transfer of participants to various programs on and off campus
  • Ensuring a pre-trip is completed before each departure, as well as any post-trip notes
  • Ensuring a clean and maintained vehicle
  • Prioritizing the safety of passengers and the vehicle
  • Expected to obey all driving rules and regulations as outlined in BC’s Motor Vehicle Act
  • Reporting any maintenance needs, questions, concerns and or incidents to direct supervisor
  • Treating all instructors, staff and participants alike in a respectful and courteous manner
  • Expected to stay on-site, or within a close and reasonable distance to the group, during their entire shift unless otherwise communicated
  • Positively represent UBC Camps, as well as the Department of Athletics and Recreation.
  • Following all UBC Camps policies and procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Current BC Class 4 Unrestricted License
  • Current Driving Abstract
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (UBC – specific, if hired)
  • Ability to use personal cell phone for work purposes, including the use of data
  • Past experience driving children and youth considered an asset

Duration of Position: Saturdays and Sundays with varied shift times and dates between July and August. Successful candidates must be available for onsite orientation in June. Up to 16 hours per week.

Wage: $25.00 - $30.00; varies based upon skillset and previous experience.
