This role sits within Laurentian Bank.

Supervise all front-end collection activity in support of all Laurentian Bank products including mortgages, investment loans, RSP loans and secured and unsecured lines of credit. Ensure that proper Collection protocols are followed to minimize loan losses and maximize recovery. Ensure that collection activity is completed in accordance to the defined Credit Business Practice Regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the collection team and the collection of default payments for our credit products.
  • Reviews and analyzes overdue accounts, gathers all information required to identify the source of the delinquency problem, assesses the clients' current financial situation and determines the possible solutions for recovery and protection of the assets of the Company.
  • Contacts or attempts to locate more difficult collection accounts and handles customer escalated concerns.
  • Contribute to the achievement of Laurentian Bank's objectives by ensuring that Account Management meeting all of the defined key performance indicators.
  • Communicate and work with other Laurentian Bank Management Team to ensure a constant exchange of information and ensure that procedures and policies are followed to enhance overall collection efforts
  • Responsible for all month-end arrears reporting
  • Ensure legal enforcement steps are being followed.
  • Reviews all files and provides management with all risk aspects of asset and recovery options, reporting potential deficiencies/losses to Management.
  • Analyzes and interprets information in order to solve complex problems.
  • Keeps up to date on the legislation in effect as well as on company policies, programs and procedures and remains aware of market trends.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring and support to front-line Representatives to develop their core competencies to position them for success
  • Foster a work environment that values the people and encourages participation, creativity, learning and accountability
  • Effectively manage change within a growth oriented, fluid environment.
  • Participates actively in the achievement of various initiatives, projects or mandates that may have a significant impact on recovery activities.
  • Liaison with 3rd Party business partners to ensure early assignment of delinquent accounts for both legal and 3rd party collections
  • Review and recommend changes/updates to training, policy and procedures and collections protocols to ensure the effective management of delinquent accounts
  • Demonstrated Vendor relationship skills

Qualifications

  • University Degree or College Diploma in related field
  • Minimum five (5) years of collection experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, and data analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated two (2) years of leadership experience
  • Must be proficient in collections for real estate and consumer loans and the default management processes in all provinces
  • Superior negotiation, communication and organization skills
  • Familiarity with 5S, Kaizen Principles, Six Sigma or other Continuous Improvement methodologies is an asset.
  • Bilingual (French & English) communication skills are mandatory.*
  • Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
