About the role

Purchasing Clerk (Part-Time/Full-Time – Temp to Perm) Location: Hendriks Greenhouses, 5095 North Service Rd, Beamsville, ON

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Additional hours and potential Saturdays may be required during peak periods)

About The Role We’re looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Clerk to join our team on a part-time basis, with the potential to move into a full-time, permanent position as the business grows. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a background in purchasing or buying, and enjoys working independently while collaborating with multiple departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Communicate sales and marketing requests to vendors and gather new item ideas
  • Estimate landed costs for new products and update pricing as needed
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure correct item specifications (size, colour, etc.)
  • Submit and track sample requests and purchase orders
  • Maintain HS code database and ensure customs/tariff documentation is accurate
  • Follow up on open orders, confirm shipping schedules, and manage delivery logistics
  • Handle discrepancies in vendor invoices and resolve non-conformance issues
  • Track shipments, communicate ETAs, and coordinate with receiving and production
  • Record data accurately and participate in KPI tracking and meetings
  • Support sales and marketing by ensuring timely flow of inventory and information
  • Assist with cost analysis, vendor performance tracking, and asset file maintenance
  • Additional tasks as required by the department

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in purchasing, data entry, or a buyer role
  • Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Excel and spreadsheets
  • Understanding of logistics, cross-border, and international shipping (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and meet tight deadlines
  • Willingness to work extra hours during peak seasons and major holidays (including possible Saturdays)
