As the National Sea Logistics Controller you will act as the business partner to provide financial expertise, strategic development support and collaboration and robust risk assessment. You will drive sustainable, profitable growth whilst ensuring financial and KPI health. Key responsibilities are to ensure financial transactional accuracy and adherence to ICS compliance and KN Guidelines and to provide accurate forecasting and pro-actively improve BU processes and efficiencies for Sea and Projects business units.

How you create impact Financial Controlling

  • Responsible for the control, monitoring and adherence to ICS (internal audit controls) and corporate policies and guidelines
  • Independently process month end closing to ensure accurate revenue, GP and cost recognition, with minimal losses
  • Monitor and maintain FSL adherence within KN Guidelines / ICS Controls
  • Collaborate with the business unit, OCC / RCC departments to ensure financial integrity of the monthly results
  • Analyze financial reports and KPIs such as unacknowledged items, customer ageing; deferrals and support business to ensure improvement
  • Ensure corporate MCoA and BU structure is in place and up to date including maintaining allocation keys and methodology
  • Provide ACON support & training to all BU staff
  • Provide guidance and training on internal guidelines, corporate policies and financial tools

Business Controlling

  • Business partner to BU VP's
  • Review customer and product profitability and monitor to mitigate / reduce loss making departments and customers with aim to turn profitable
  • Produce accurate BU forecast / target in conjunction with the business unit managers
  • Identify risks and sensitivities and provide guidance and recommendations
  • Monitor continuously business development in terms of productivities, volumes and costs/challenge overspend, budget to actual
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting regarding data quality, completeness and relevancy
  • Provide support and guidance to the business for commercial and strategic decisions
  • Collaborate with SGI/Hemisphere Controlling to ensure best practices
  • Support BU with strategic projects and Roadmap initiatives
  • Support National Controlling team reporting and adhoc tasks
  • Tableau reporting and BU Presentations to increase operational financial acumen

What we would like you to bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance
  • CMA or CPA designation preferable
  • 5+ years’ experience in finance, accounting and controlling environment
  • Experience in logistics or freight forwarding environment preferable
  • In depth understanding of financial and accounting concepts
  • Ability to relay financial information to non-financial personnel
  • Ability to operate in a matrix environment and to effectively communicate at multiple levels within the business
  • Ability to summarize data into a concise story without comprising main elements
  • Ability to identify cost savings, simplify and improve processes, implement efficiency gains and measure and report on key indicators
  • Ability to work on own initiative to build business plans, defining gaps and opportunities and assess all risks involved and make decisions
  • Flexibility to travel as required to support the Canada National operations
