About the role
Red Apple Stores is recruiting for a Financial Analyst to join our Finance Team. This position is based out of Mississauga, Ontario.
The Financial Analyst (FA) will be responsible for supporting budgeting, forecasting and business analytics for Red Apple Stores. The FA will be a key business partner for the organization and provide insight into the performance of the business.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by working with Senior Management and individual departmental leads to ensure that budgets are realistic, accurate and comply with business objectives
- Proactively seek opportunities to create efficiencies and improve processes
- Provide analysis of external economic conditions and their impact on business operations (e.g., inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, etc.)
- Monitor performance metrics for the business and functional departments
- Support in implementing planning and analysis tools to enhance reporting activities, including creating and maintaining various financial planning models used within the organization.
- Streamline sales and financial reports and reporting processes to deliver more efficient, effective and value-added reporting
- Manage the capital and fixed asset processes
- Work with internal departments and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities in cost management and process efficiency
- Support month-end and year-end financial close processes
- Other related duties as required or assigned.
SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- University degree in Business/Accounting.
- 3-5 years experience in budgeting, management reporting and variance analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (i.e. v-lookups, pivot tables, macros) and experience with financial systems integration.
- Highly motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a high degree of intellectual curiosity and proven leadership skills.
- Strategic thinking/advisor and business acumen/decision-making skills.
- Understanding of the activities that will drive value in the business.
- Ability to work well in a dynamic environment, recommend and implement process improvements, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to partner with other leaders in the business to achieve corporate goals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Effective attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Experience in a retail and/or multi-unit industry and/or multi-product line environment is an asset.
