The Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies invites applications for a tenure track clinical Instructor at the University of Regina, to start October 1, 2025. This position will primarily be responsible for the well-established Fieldwork Program.
Reporting to the Dean of Kinesiology and Health Studies and working closely with the Associate Dean – Hands-On and Service Learning, the primary responsibility will be the ongoing development, coordination, management, and evaluation of the Fieldwork Program. This will include, but not be limited to:
- Manage, monitor, and direct facilitation of student learning, including practical and experiential learning environments.
- Coordinate with various Health Authorities, the Faculty, and the University to create and maintain Affiliation Agreements.
- Develop and maintain appropriate professional relationships with our current and/or future community stakeholders and partners.
- Engage and excite the professional community and the university about the experiential learning aspects of our degree programs.
- Work collaboratively with community organizations and the campus community as applicable to this role.
- Evaluate experiential learning opportunities/placements to ensure quality learning experiences and outcomes.
- Evaluate and assess student performance in experiential learning placements, which may also include the assessment of related written and oral assignments.
- Sufficiently prepare the students for all aspects of experiential learning in Fieldwork. Instruct the pre-fieldwork course as well as the Jr. Practicum.
- Act as the official liaison between the Faculty, participating partner agencies, and the students in the fieldwork program.
- Work collaboratively with existing internal partners including the University of Regina Center for Experiential and Service Learning (CESL).
- Facilitate the student-driven Fieldwork selection process.
- Facilitate the student-driven Sport and Recreation Management Paid Internship including approval and respective placement paperwork.
- Collaborate with the Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) Supervisors and the KHS Academic CTRS Supervisor to support Therapeutic Recreation students on the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification pathway.
- Work with students and participating partner agencies to provide meaningful learning experiences.
- Encourage students to maximize their learning potential in and through experiential learning to realize both personal and professional growth.
- Connect with Joint BEd/BKIN students during their teaching internship to provide accountability for applying Physical Literacy based Learning Objectives (in conjunction with the Faculty of Education Director of Professional Development and Field Experiences.
- Maintain the Experiential Learning database of Pre-Fieldwork, Fieldwork and Alumni students. Continue to create the Experiential Learning Newsletter and distribute throughout faculty and community. Coordinate the career fair in conjunction with KHS day. Attend the Teaching Research and Academic Programming Meeting in addition to at least 1-2 other committees.
Position Requirements
The Faculty is accepting applications from those who possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology & Health Studies or a closely related field. Experiential learning experience in the broader KHS fields at the university or college level and relevant professional experience are required. Teaching experience is required. We are seeking an engaging, enthusiastic self-starter who is passionate about supervising, promoting, and enhancing experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate students who aspire to contribute to the broader kinesiology, health, and human services sector. Must possess a valid driver’s license to travel to partner organizations within the Province as public health restrictions allow.
The Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies is a dynamic member of the university community with administrative responsibility for both academic and co-curricular programs. The Faculty offers three degree programs including a Bachelor of Kinesiology (major in Exercise and Sport Science), a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies (majors in Sport and Recreation Management and Therapeutic Recreation) and a Bachelor of Health Studies in addition to a joint degree in Kinesiology and Education and a joint degree in Sport and Recreation Studies and Business Administration.
