The Opportunity

The City of St. Albert is recruiting individuals to join our Public Operations department as a Casual Labourer.

We are looking for individuals with excellent customer service, teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions. These positions mostly work outdoors and in various weather conditions. Candidates working inside one of our City facilities can expect to work in different environments and on varied surfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Duties may vary based on placement area and could include tasks related to public park spaces, water and wastewater, road maintenance, building maintenance, garage and maintaining recycling and compost depots. Physical labour includes repetitive task movements pushing and pulling and lifting up to 60 lbs repeatedly as well as standing for extended periods

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License and clear drivers abstract showing fewer than 5 demerits are required. A Class 3 Drivers License with Q endorsement is considered an asset.
  • Physical ability to conduct assigned duties including lifting, sitting, riding, and standing.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who currently have Standard or Emergency First Aid and Defensive Driver training.
  • Related work experience is beneficial so please identify any prior labour or maintenance experience and indicate expertise with handheld or power tools and small equipment.

Hours of Work

  • Up to 40 hours per week, shifts will include evening and weekends.

Compensation

  • $17.92 - $20.83 per hour
  • Employees can purchase an annual Recreation Access Pass for $87 + tax, granting unlimited access to Servus Credit Union Place (excluding PLAYcare and registered programs), Fountain Park Recreation Centre, and Grosvenor Outdoor Pool.
