Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Logistics Manager to join our team and lead logistics operations for a busy landscape construction company. This role involves managing trucking and material deliveries, overseeing a team of drivers, coordinating with internal departments, and ensuring operational efficiency and compliance.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the driving team, including scheduling, performance reviews, hiring, and addressing employee concerns.
- Schedule trucks and drivers to multiple job sites and coordinate daily deliveries and pickups of aggregates and materials.
- Resolve any on-site problems related to logistics, materials, and personnel in a timely manner.
- Track truck locations and provide drivers with real-time updates and routing adjustments.
- Manage billing for all trucking and delivery activities, including collecting documentation, job costing, and preparing invoices.
- Prepare and maintain site documentation, including daily reports, equipment logs, safety inspection records, aggregates delivered, trucking invoices, change orders.
- Prepare and analyze operational reports such as fuel usage and idling time, and present actionable insights and recommendations to management.
- Secure required permits, including for oversize loads, and ensure compliance with MTO safety and regulatory requirements.
- Track and schedule regular maintenance and repairs for trucks and specialty equipment with our shop team.
- Assist with organization of the yard, ensuring vehicles and equipment are properly cleaned, parked and maintained.
- Communicate with project managers and foremen/forewomen daily to identify and meet trucking needs for various divisions.
- Act as a backup for floating equipment to job sites when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of logistics experience in construction, landscaping, or a related industry.
- Education in project management, construction, or a related field is preferred.
- Valid DZ license with a clean driving record, AZ license preferred
- Experience floating equipment is considered a strong asset.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and dynamic schedules.
- Familiarity with specialty trucks such as hydro seeders, stone slingers, roll-off trucks, and water trucks is a strong asset.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Must have completed WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety Awareness training (or be willing to obtain prior to starting).
