About the role

(Internal Title: Manager, Stakeholder Engagement and Communications)
- Build and foster relationships with senior management to plan, develop, and implement internal communications strategies
- Collaborate with client, conduct internal surveys and conversations with employees, lead the development of communication strategies and plan for corporate and employee communications to advance and communicate business initiatives related to infrastructure projects, and inform and educate employees of health and safety best practices and initiatives
- Liaise with both the client’s and consultants’ employees to ensure plans and deliverables for infrastructure projects integrates with corporate strategies
- Research, write, edit, create and manage production of internal and corporate communications materials across various levels
- Lead and manage effective and regular communications to all internal employees through a range of channels, ensuring ease of access
- Maintain an internal communications strategy that considers an infrastructure project’s objectives and operations and delivers information and timely information across the entire project organization
- Research and draft speeches and background notes for Senior Management, as assigned
- Organize and facilitate leadership engagement sessions with employees (i.e., town halls, organizational announcements, e-newsletters, videos, and other internal digital platforms)
- Guide working groups in the planning, coordination, and execution of employee engagement communication products and special events
- Manage the development, production, and delivery of internal communications materials for print and digital platforms (i.e., internal e-newsletter, intranet, and video)
- Coordinate with internal skills development team to develop and implement internal communications strategies for equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Support internal labor communications by drafting required employee communications materials
- Complete any tasks assigned by the Senior Manager, Stakeholder Engagement and Communications in an efficient and timely manner

Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Strategic Communications or similar
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Public Service Project Communications and Stakeholder Engagement
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a People Manager

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or a related discipline or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed relevant

Licenses OR Certifications:
- Registered for and actively seeking recognized certification and membership in related associations

Skills and Competencies:
- Experience developing and leading internal communications strategies and change management principles, methods and practices
- Experience developing and directing graphic and video content
- Interest, knowledge and aptitude in transportation, construction and community relations is an asset
- Organizational and analytical skills to plan and deliver multimedia programs and campaigns under tight deadlines and to manage simultaneous projects that require integrating complex information into communications materials to audiences of diverse knowledge and understanding
- Understanding of how government works, as well as political acuity, will also be an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including superior skills in Excel
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Digitally and social media savvy
- Strong understanding and implementation of various research methods
- Ability to independently tailor technical information for different audiences through presentations, reports, and other means
- Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal)
- Equipped to develop and analyze responses to consultants and engage with a variety of people
- Strong and organized approach to task and project management
- Mastery of facilitating public meetings and representing the program or project and client or company
- Seasoned experience providing community and media outreach advice
- Tact to act as project ambassador
- Expert ability to work collaboratively and independently in a structured, disciplined, technology-driven environment
- Diplomatic skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders and stakeholder groups
- Confidence to mentor and advise staff
