Description

This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this position has a comprehensive benefits package and an annual salary range of $67,159 to $111,927.

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at Enterprise Square.

Working for Development and Alumni Relations

The Development and Alumni Relations team at the University of Alberta plays a critical role in fostering philanthropic support, engaging with its donor and alumni network to advance and achieve the university’s mission. As a part of the Advancement Services unit, Development Programs plays a key role in the effective delivery of project and program initiatives. The team provides essential project management expertise and strategic coordination for various programs and projects. They focus on maximizing operational efficiencies and ensuring positive engagement with partners and collaborators. Development Programs offers comprehensive services, including program support and delivery, facilitation, project management, advising, and reporting.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for leading projects that improve service delivery, identify optimal role assignments, implement operational planning, and create Standard Operating Procedures and projects that result in excellent donor experiences. Responsibilities include managing multiple high-level and strategic projects of various scope and duration, leading project teams, facilitating discussions and meetings, project analysis and reporting, business process mapping and identifying processes for improvement including re-engineering and automation, and facilitating stakeholder information-sharing sessions. This role is also responsible for leading and facilitating productive discussions and meetings with leadership and project teams to ensure projects and discussions progress to deliver tangible results. Responsibilities also include managing Advancing U – the University of Alberta fundraiser training program.

Duties

  • Leads projects from start to finish that improve service delivery and create Standard Operating Procedures that result in excellent donor experiences.
  • Leads the process of working with collaborators to review and update policy, procedures, and SOPs within the unit. This includes leading and facilitating meetings and consultation sessions with Directors, Managers and subject matter experts from various units within Development and Alumni Relations as well as other units within External Relations.
  • Manages multiple high-level and strategic projects of various scopes and duration, leading project teams, project analysis and reporting, business process mapping, documentation preparation and delivery, and developing and rolling out process communication and socialization plans.
  • Identifies processes and conducts gap analysis for improvement including re-engineering and automation, and facilitating stakeholder information-sharing sessions.
  • Facilitates and implements operational planning for Development and Alumni Relations.
  • Manages Advancing U - the University of Alberta fundraising training program (combination of outsourced and in-house sessions).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or other related field. Masters preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project management, strategic planning, or policy design.
  • Experience working with collaborators to review and update policy, procedure, and SOPs.
  • Proven ability to lead and facilitate engaging and productive discussions and meetings, fostering an environment of active participation to achieve actionable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Success in facilitating and implementing operational and business planning sessions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals in varying roles and levels.
  • Proven project management experience and developing project documentation.
  • Understanding of the University's formal structures, informal structures, culture(s), practices, and objectives.
  • Experience facilitating and delivering training and developing training plans.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite.
  • Experience working in a fundraising or post-secondary environment, supporting complex and varied areas of development is considered an asset.
