About Pegasus
Pegasus is an Aerospace company building advanced technologies for Aerospace & Defense. We provide real-time situational awareness and predictive insights, supporting civil aviation, air traffic systems, and military platforms. Our mission is to mitigate risk and enable performance, particularly in adverse weather, through cutting-edge data analytics, sensor integration, and alerting systems.
Role Overview
Pegasus is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Mechanical Team Lead to guide the development of structural and mechanical subsystems for next-generation aerospace platforms. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with a passion for innovation, leadership, and delivering robust, manufacturable designs for mission-critical systems.
As a team lead, you will work at the intersection of product development and systems engineering to create durable, lightweight, and efficient mechanical components in a regulated aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the mechanical engineering team through the full product lifecycle.
- Design and analyze structural and mechanical components for aerospace systems, emphasizing weight, durability, and manufacturability.
- Develop mechanical architectures in collaboration with electronics, firmware, and systems teams.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and structural integrity under operational loads and environmental conditions.
- Support thermal, vibration, and fatigue analyses using simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD).
- Guide design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA) best practices.
- Conduct detailed design reviews and support prototyping, testing, and validation.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners on part fabrication and quality assurance.
- Assist in hiring, onboarding, and technical development of team members.
- Contribute to long-term technical roadmapping and strategic planning with leadership.
Required Skills & Experience
- BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in aerospace or a regulated industry.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fuzion360, NX) and documentation tools.
- Demonstrated experience in structural design, thermal/vibration management, and integration with electronics and sensors.
- Working knowledge of materials for aerospace applications including composites, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and rapid iteration cycles.
- Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, CFD packages).
- Understanding of environmental test standards (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-810).
- Proven leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ruggedized enclosures, heat dissipation design, or EMI shielding.
- Exposure to systems engineering and multidisciplinary trade-offs.
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing and CNC processes.
- Knowledge of aerospace certification requirements (e.g., TCCA, FAA).
- Understanding of reliability engineering or lifecycle analysis.
Why Join Us?
- Play a key leadership role in shaping cutting-edge aerospace systems.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of passionate engineers.
- Drive real-world innovation with opportunities for rapid iteration and deployment.
- Be part of a high-growth, agile company where your ideas and leadership have direct impact.
- Contribute to technologies that prioritize safety, sustainability, and mission readiness.
