About the role
As a Machine Assembler, you will fit and assemble mechanical components and systems to build equipment that is dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry. To excel in this role, a combination of technical skills is required, including the ability to read and follow engineering blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to attach and install parts and sub-assemblies.
Location: 160 Consolidated Drive, Paris, ON
Dedicated Day Shift: 6:30am – 3:00pm, Monday – Friday
Job Duties
- Read and thoroughly understand detailed assembly instructions, engineering diagrams, schematics, and parts lists to ensure meticulous assembly through fit and alignment.
- Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly.
- Connect hoses, tubes, clamps, and wires.
- Fasten parts and sub-assemblies together using hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Operate lifting devices such as cranes (overhead and/or jib) to complete large assembly installations.
- Verify that the assembled equipment functions correctly and adheres to quality standards to prevent faulty products from reaching customers.
Skills and Experience
- Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
- Assembly tasks require collaboration with coworkers; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects that involve multiple team members.
- Physical requirements include the use of strength such as pulling, pushing, lifting and/or moving objects during the work, as well as standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending.
Qualifications
- Previous related experience maintaining or repairing recreational vehicles, landscaping equipment, small engine repair, pre-apprenticeship training or other general construction/trades courses.
- Mechanical skills using hand tools and power tools.
- Experience reading blueprints or assembly drawings is an asset.
