About the role
Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting, the Financial Analyst will assist in preparing timely and accurate monthly financial statements, reconciliations of the balance sheet for all consolidated balance sheet accounts, and supporting analysis for financial statement line items. The Financial Analyst will ensure the necessary organizational and compliance controls are maintained, prepare quarterly balance sheet analysis and working papers, research and explain variances from both plan (budget) and comparable prior reporting periods (past business trends) and complete monthly reporting and analysis of business operational efficiency & effectiveness measures which will include both financial and statistical measures.
Your role
- Prepare monthly operational financial statements, including a high-level review of revenue, labour, and overhead.
- Complete quarterly balance sheet analysis for all accounts on the Consolidated Balance Sheet, along with supporting documentation and explanation of variances as required.
- Additional Ad Hoc reporting as required.
- Monitor and report on the collections cycle of the operations.
- Assist in the preparation of Operational Budgets/Forecast.
- Annual preparation of Year-End Working Papers.
- Ongoing improvement of existing processes and systems.
- Work by company health and safety guidelines and procedures; actively participate in safety initiatives, and promptly report any hazards or concerns.
- Ensure proper use of routine practices and use of personal protective equipment as required.
- Respect the privacy and confidentiality of clients/caregivers/families, and the healthcare team.
- Obtain verbal, or when required, signed consent to treat and ensure ongoing consent.
- Ensure timely presentation of financial and operational performance to both Ops and Finance Leads.
- Ensure Quarterly reporting requirements as requested by both Corporate Finance leads and External auditors of the Company are being met.
- Liaise with Operations and Finance Leads to assist with additional requirements assigned.
- Ensure strong communication with the Administrative group to ensure AR is maintained at appropriate levels.
- Facilitate the Budget/Forecast process to track performance of actual results against budget/forecast.
- Working Papers are accurately prepared to facilitate smooth submission for tax returns to be completed.
- Foster discussion with colleagues, operational leads, Admins, and finance leads to recommend and drive process improvement.
What You Will Need To Be Successful
- Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration/Management, or equivalent
- Currently enrolled in the CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) program
- 1 to 3 years of financial report analysis, account analysis and reconciliation, A/P, or A/R
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel;
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting practices, financial reporting, accounting standards, policies, and systems.
- Working knowledge of NetSuite, data cubes, and BI Software is an asset
- Ability to work with highly confidential information with professionalism and tact
- Strong interpersonal skills & collaborative mindset.
- Results-oriented with problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bilingualism is considered an asset
