To support this growth, we’re seeking skilled and passionate Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our team. As one of Calgary’s largest urban emergency departments, we care for patients across the full spectrum of acuity. Our interdisciplinary team thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, delivering high-quality, compassionate care. We’re looking for LPNs who are clinically strong, resilient, and adaptable—ready to excel in high-pressure situations. Reporting to the Unit Manager, LPNs are essential members of our emergency team, providing care to patients of varying acuity. You’ll be accountable to the public for your own practice, ensuring it meets legislative requirements, and the standards set by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Graduate from an approved Practical Nurse program. 2-4 years’ experience as an LPN. Current BLS - Heart and Stroke. Current active practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Minimum one (1) year nursing experience obtained within the past 2 years working greater than 0.70 FTE.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in emergency or urgent care setting. Ability to work as a member of a team and to request and accept direction. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, within scope of practice, including clinical judgment, problem solving skills and strong decision-making ability. Demonstrates professional interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrates effective time management. Demonstrates understanding of Family Centred Care philosophy. Up to date ACE Modules.
