Job Title: Experienced Demolition Worker (Subcontractor – Hourly)
Location: Ottawa, ON
Job Type: Subcontract / On-Call
Salary: Hourly – Based on Experience
Job Description
We’re looking for a skilled and reliable individual demolition worker to join our team as an independent subcontractor, paid hourly. Work is assigned on an on-call, project-by-project basis, depending on job volume.
The ideal candidate has experience in both residential and commercial demolition, understands the importance of selective and controlled removals, and can work cleanly and safely without damaging non-targeted structures or finishes.
This is for an individual subcontractor only.
We are not hiring crews or accepting workers from subcontracting companies.
Responsibilities
- Perform selective demolition on residential and commercial job sites
- Remove drywall, flooring, ceilings, cabinetry, framing, siding, and fixtures as per scope
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
- Install and maintain dust barriers, floor protection, and other site protection
- Protect finishes and surrounding structures during demolition
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety protocols and wear proper PPE
- Communicate effectively with site supervisor regarding progress and site issues
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of demolition experience in residential and/or commercial settings
- Must be able to work independently and follow scope of work
- Own tools and PPE (e.g., CSA-approved boots, gloves, hard hat, respirator)
- Physically fit and capable of demanding manual labour
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- WHMIS and Working at Heights certification (or willingness to obtain)
Additional Information
- This is a subcontractor role (not employee status)
- Hourly pay, rate based on experience and skill
- Work is project-based and not guaranteed — ideal for someone with a flexible schedule
- You’ll be expected to invoice for hours worked
- Fast payment turnaround via e-transfer or direct deposit
Schedule:
- On-call
- Monday to Friday (when scheduled)
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be available based on job needs
