Senior Software Engineer in Test (Automation/Functional testing)
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Test who wants to make a real impact. This is a key role is working for an on-prem engineering team, where you'll focus on driving automation strategy and improving QA processes to support faster, more stable releases. If you’ve got 7+ years of experience in software test engineering (or development with a strong testing focus), and you’re comfortable working across the full SDLC with modern tools and frameworks, this could be a great fit. This is a hybrid role, you’ll be in the Surrey office one day a week (right across from Guildford Mall) to collaborate and connect with the team.

If you’ve got 7+ years of experience in software test engineering (or development with a strong testing focus), and you’re comfortable working across the full SDLC with modern tools and frameworks, this could be a great fit. Responsibilities
- Own and evolve QA strategy, testing standards, and automation coverage across a complex, on-prem product
- Design and execute both automated and manual test plans—UI, API, integration, regression, performance, and more
- Work closely with devs, product managers, and other QA engineers to shift testing left and reduce release risk
- Build and maintain scalable, easy-to-use test automation frameworks
- Apply black-box, white-box, and grey-box testing techniques in your daily work
- Lead performance, load, security, and resiliency testing efforts
- Mentor junior engineers, help set team standards, and lead by example
- Use root cause analysis to drive bug prevention, not just detection
- Bring ideas—process improvements, tooling upgrades, better metrics—and help make them real
Qualifications
- 7+ years in a QA or SDET role, ideally with enterprise-grade software
Required Skills
- Strong skills in test automation using tools like Playwright, Selenium, or FlaUI
- Solid programming/scripting skills (C#, JavaScript, Python, etc.)
- Experience testing service-oriented or microservice architectures
- Comfortable with GitLab, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and databases like Oracle or Postgres
- Familiar with agile testing principles (TDD, the testing pyramid, etc.)
- Bonus if you've dabbled in using AI to assist with test generation or automation

Pay range and compensation package
