About the role

Your Opportunity:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Successful candidates will be expected to: float to all surgery units; participate in quality improvement initiatives at the front line; supporting and maintaining high quality patient care strategies within the surgery program.

Preference will be given to those in the RAH Surgery Float Pool.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Excellent time management and prioritization skills with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic environment. Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills. Understanding of CoACT and collaborative care in the acute care setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working within a Surgery acute care practice setting within the last 2 years preferred. Experience working in a surgery float pool position or the RAH surgery float pool, working on multiple units preferred. Experience working within the CoACT framework preferred.
