About the role
At Quails' Gate, great wine starts in the vineyard. We take that same thinking when sourcing ingredients at Old Vines Restaurant, supporting local farmers, and consciously selecting the best our region has to offer. Our philosophy is of fresh simplicity: the menu is inspired by regional Okanagan and West Coast ingredients prepared in the classical tradition. In addition, as a winery restaurant, wine is always a key starting point when a new dish is being developed at Old Vines Restaurant.
At Old Vines Restaurant, we’re looking for a passionate and driven Chef de Partie to join our high-performing kitchen team. You’ll work beside Sous Chef and the Chef de Cuisine to deliver exceptional food experiences, bringing creativity, consistency, and leadership to every plate.
This is more than just a job; it’s a chance to grow your career in a kitchen that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence. You’ll play a key role in shaping our menu, mentoring junior team members, and pushing culinary boundaries in one of the region’s most respected restaurants.
Whether you're already a seasoned CDP or a talented cook ready to level up, this is your opportunity to make your mark.
As a CDP, you will
- Lead your assigned kitchen station with consistency, efficiency, and attention to detail.
- Execute daily mise en place and prepare menu items using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients.
- Prepare and cook Canadian seafood and a variety of dishes to the highest culinary standards.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Support a smooth kitchen operation by adapting to changing priorities and collaborating with the Chef team.
- Contribute ideas to menu development and provide input on product ordering and cost control.
- Mentor and support junior team members, sharing knowledge and promoting a positive team environment.
- Uphold high standards of food quality, presentation, and guest experience throughout every service.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a formal chef training program & interprovincial Red Seal or international equivalent
- Level 1 Food Safe Certificate
- 3+ years of cooking experience in a fine dining establishment
- Wine and food pairing knowledge
- The flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work under pressure efficiently and safely.
Why Join Us?
- A kitchen that thrives on passion and purpose
- Creative input in menu development
- Opportunities to advance within a dynamic team
- A stunning venue where your skills will shine
- Employee preferred pricing at Old Vines Restaurant, The Market, and Wineshop
- Educational and Training Opportunities
- Staff Appreciation Events and Initiatives
- Competitive Wages
- Complimentary Tours and Tastings
