About the Role
Ottawa Demolition and Removals is looking for an experienced Asbestos Abatement Worker to join our team on a subcontractor basis. This is not a full-time staff position and not for crews or other companies — we are seeking skilled individuals who can be called in for work based on project demand.
We handle residential, commercial, and institutional abatement projects in the Ottawa region. Work involves the selective removal of asbestos-containing materials and other designated substances such as mould and lead.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 asbestos abatement in compliance with Ontario Regulation 278/05
- Set up enclosures, negative air machines, and decontamination chambers
- Safely remove hazardous materials with care and precision
- Use appropriate PPE and follow all safety procedures, including air monitoring
- Assist with clean-up, load-out, and occasional demolition support
Requirements
- Valid Asbestos Worker Certification (Type 3) in Ontario
- Minimum 2 years of direct abatement experience
- Valid WHMIS and Working at Heights certifications
- Own PPE preferred (respirator, suits, gloves, boots) — can be provided if needed
- Physically fit and able to work in dusty, hot, or confined conditions
- Access to reliable transportation
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently

- On-call work with the potential for consistent hours depending on performance
