Job Description
The Department of Psychiatry, Island Health, South Island, is looking for a part-time Psychiatrist to join the 1SW inpatient unit at Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide in-patient psychiatric care as part of an interdisciplinary team, and in collaboration with psychiatric colleagues on the unit.
- The unit primarily, but not exclusively, provides specialized care to young adults (age 17 to 26) affected by the full range of psychiatric conditions including substance use disorders.
- The therapeutic program includes a comprehensive range of treatments including individual and group psychotherapy, medication management, and ECT.
- Combine this position with an outpatient role serving the young adult population.
- On call responsibility is mandatory for Island Health psychiatry services.
- Provide teaching and training for medical students and residents.
- Participation in research is strongly encouraged and facilitated by Island Health.
- Participation in the evaluation of the efficiency, quality and delivery of the Services is expected.
- Participation in clinical, operational, and Department of Psychiatry meetings is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Hold an Independent License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
- Be a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a team environment, with supervision of students and residents.
- Clinical and research experience with young adult patients would definitely be an asset.
