About the role

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing preferred, health related area or business, or suitable combination of relevant education and experience related to the position.
  • Current registration with applicable licensing body.
  • Certificate in Health Services Management or Nursing Administration.
  • Three (3) years relevant experience in the last five (5) years in a healthcare setting.
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant management experience.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial ability.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee and labour relations.
  • Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health.
  • Demonstrated experience in initiating changes and improvements, including skills in workplace re-engineering within a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment.
  • Ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
  • Sensitivity to the human and political dynamics of health care management.
  • Strong organizational, decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop Policy & Procedures.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency.
  • Ability to display independent judgment.
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
  • Ability to respect and promote confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager Heatlh Services shall be accountable to the appropriate Director and is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, evaluation and operation of the assigned facility within Prairie Mountain Health. Primary responsibilities relate to nursing leadership and support, nursing collaborative practice decision making, nursing management, equipment/supplies management, environmental management, education/inservice/professional development, committee participation and communication.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

  • Responsible for the safe administration and operation of client services throughout Prairie Mountain Health.

  • Monitors appropriate financial, human resources, equipment and environmental issues of client services within Prairie Mountain Health.

  • Oversees the development of policies and procedures related to client services.

  • Instrumental in the planning and development of a sustainable program.

  • Participates in portfolio/facility/regional team structure.

  • Develops and maintains functional relationships with other departments/programs.

  • Plans for continued professional development of staff and self.

  • Promotes positive public relations.

  • Operationalizes Prairie Mountain Health’s Vision, Mission and Values statements.

  • Promotes the quality dimensions of access, safety, effectiveness and satisfaction in the provision of Prairie Mountain Health’s services.

  • Ensure quality client care is delivered in accordance with Manitoba Health applicable standards, Accreditation Canada standards, professional nursing legislation and standards, existing health care legislation, and regional/site policies.
