About the role

Are you a self-starter with a passion for social media and the latest digital trends? Do you love engaging with audiences, creating social content, and capturing/covering live events through social platforms? The Vaughan International Film Festival (VFF), a not-for-profit organization in a neighbouring city of Toronto, is looking for a creative and driven Festival Social Media Volunteer to join our volunteer Marketing Crew!

About VFF:

VFF is dedicated to fostering the future of the short film industry. Through public film screenings, scholarships, informative panels, webinars, and industry events, we support both emerging and experienced filmmakers locally and internationally.

Position Overview:

As part of our Marketing Crew, you’ll play a vital role in managing VFF’s social media presence, crafting engaging campaigns, and covering live festival events. This is a perfect opportunity for someone passionate about digital media who wants to build their experience in social media management while contributing to a dynamic arts festival.

Duties

  • Develop, curate, and manage published content across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok & LinkedIn.
  • Monitor social media channels for trends, customer feedback, and engagement opportunities; respond promptly and professionally to inquiries and comments.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and audience preferences to inform content creation.
  • Implement SEO best practices in all social media content to enhance visibility and reach.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to align social media campaigns with overall advertising efforts and digital marketing strategies.
  • Create and post content across all platforms.
  • Attend VFF events to provide real-time social media coverage.
  • Participate in monthly Marketing Crew meetings.

Requirements

  • Passionate about social media trends and digital content creation.
  • Experience in social media management, including posting, engagement, and event coverage.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to apply and have a high school diploma (minimum requirement)
  • Familiarity with major social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok) and tools like WhatsApp.
  • Positive attitude, punctual, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A Vulnerable Sector Check will be required.
  • Must have a laptop and smart phone

Job Details:

  • Part-time (2-15 hours per week)
  • Flexible schedule with some weekend availability required
  • Hybrid role (Vaughan-based)

Preferred Experience:

  • 1 year of social media management
  • 1 year of experience covering live events on social media
  • Photography/Videography experience preferred but not required.
